Ask the author

A question from your side of the table.

Something in a book didn’t sit right, or didn’t go far enough? Ask. Bruce reads every question himself. Many are answered by email, and the most useful become a letter — with every identifying detail removed.

Before you write

What makes a good question

  • Name the page or idea. “Chapter Five of the tax book says…” gets a sharper answer than “what about Roth conversions?”
  • Describe, don’t disclose. Round numbers and a general description are plenty. Please leave out account numbers, Social Security numbers, and anything you would not put on a postcard.
  • Ask about the idea, not the product. Questions about how something works, what it costs, or what to ask are exactly what this is for.

What this is — and what it isn’t

Answers are general education about retirement finance, the same as the books. They are not individualized investment, tax, legal or insurance advice, and nothing sent through this form creates an advisory or client relationship. A question about your own accounts deserves a professional who knows all of your facts.
